A doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to people before, during, and after childbirth, acting as a non-clinical advocate to help them achieve a positive birth experience, offering comfort, education, and assistance with tasks like newborn care or light housework, without performing medical procedures. This role involves nurturing the birthing person, facilitating communication with medical staff, as needed help with navigate concerns, and supporting the entire family's transition into parenthood, reducing anxiety and potentially improving health outcomes.
